Congrats to Painter Bros franchisee Blake Fleming of Hampton Roads, who was recently named the latest Painter Bros Franchisee of the Month!
Blake retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in May 2023 after a fulfilling career of service.
Not long after retiring, he caught up with a close friend—now a Painter Bros franchise owner—who shared his experience and success. That conversation planted a seed. He and his wife, Kim, spent several months thoughtfully considering their next chapter in post-military life.
The more they explored the opportunity with Painter Bros, the more they saw the potential—not just as a business, but as a lifestyle that aligned with their values and goals.
They decided to take the leap, and in January 2025, they proudly opened their own Painter Bros franchise! The start of the year was a whirlwind, in the best possible way. They’ve already exceeded their own expectations.
Outside of the business, Blake's wife, Kim, works as a dedicated nurse practitioner. Together, they’re raising two amazing kids: Madeleine, age 4, and Aiden, age 11.
Blake says one of the most rewarding aspects of owning a Painter Bros franchise has been the opportunity to engage with the local community and build strong relationships with fellow franchise owners who share their passion and drive.
